Treatment for Ringworm

A medicated shampoo or lotion to bathe your pet with will help. This kills off the fungal spores to stop the infection. Note that you’ll need to quarantine your pet from other animals in the house, as ringworm is easily transmissible. You’ll also want to wear gloves while handling your pet so as not to get infected yourself.

You can also use the same products that we use when we need to treat Tinea beneath our toes. Canestan or a similar type of fungal creme will help to rid your pets of ringworm.

Prevention Tips

Pets encounter the fungal spores that cause ringworm in their environment. While there’s no guarantee you can prevent your pet from coming into contact with these spores, keeping them away from wild animals and dirty areas is always a good idea. Don’t let your pet roam around outdoors unsupervised.
